Jessica Renfro is a speculative fiction author based in Berlin. Her debut novel, Between Flesh and Sky, explores themes of alienation, belonging, AI dependence, and transformation—subjects informed by her experience as an immigrant.

Her career spans the gamut in performing arts, having worked for seventeen years as an opera/oratorio singer, then as an artist/game designer exploring the concept of ‘collective victory’. During that time, she also published several academic articles in the field of Artistic Research on the subject of procedural authorship and collectivity. She holds an MA in Performance Practices (Dramaturgy) from ArtEZ University in the Netherlands as well as a small bouquet of degrees in music.

Having found a home in the writing world, she is now a member of Jericho Writers and was recently selected for the highly competitive 2025 Futurescapes Fall Workshop for speculative fiction.
